Natural Treatments for Hot Flashes

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

For most women who experience hot flashes due to menopause, there is a need to get rid of these feelings. If this is you, you may go to your physician and get medication (with their many side effects) that may help rid you of hot flashes or you could rely on natural cures. This article will teach you about several cures that will help you with hot flashes.

  1. Some women have reported that Black Cohosh is particularly effective with relieving the dreaded hot flashes. It is safe and works remarkably well. A few reports have indicated it is a cause of liver problems, however this has not been proven in any research.
  2. My personal recommendation (I am not a doctor, this is my opinion) is Dong Quai, it has been used in Chinese Medicine for over 1200 years. It helps many women with the effects of hot flashes. However, keep in mind that you should not use it when you are having trouble with blood clotting or you are taking medications that treat bleeding complications.
  3. Another natural cure is Ginseng, which not only helps with hot flashes but it is also helpful with the other symptoms of menopause.

There are many other natural cures, but I have not tested them and I have no idea how they work. I would check with a trained herbalist if you are unsure about any herbal medication you may want to try.

In finding the treatment for menopause, you will find that this is a completely normal condition and it usually does not require medical attention. Therefore the treatment for menopause most women will look for is relief from the symptoms of menopause. Here are a couple of treatments that work for menopause sufferers:

  • Hormone replacement therapy which is a drug treatment that helps the hot flashes, however there are a ton of side effects to this drug that include heart diseas and breast cancer so if you do use it, use it only as a short term remedy.
  • Antidepressants may help you if you are experiencing mood swings, or if you are having hot flashes.
  • Herbal remedies may help to manage symptoms and many women report them doing so, however the medical community has not offered any proof to support this.

These are some good ways to get relief from these symptoms.
